Smt. Neyveli Ramalakshmi Krishna hails from a musical background. She was initially trained by her mother Smt. Trichy S. Premavathy and later from Sri. O.S.Thyagarajan and Smt. Padma Srinivasan.

Neyveli Ramalakshmi started giving concerts at the age of 11. She is a grade artist in All India Radio, Pondicherry. Rama has specialized inTevaram/Tiruvasagam from Chidambaram Sri Ramachandra Oothuvar and has received the title "Pannisai Selvi" from Dharumapura Aathinam.

Rama also excels in academic side. She is a Gold Medalist from University of Madras and has done Masters in Computer Science. She has been introduced to film music in the movie "Alaipayuthe" for the song "Alaipayuthe Kanna" for which A.R.Rehman has scored the music.

Rama teaches Carnatic Music in New Jersey and also gives performances in the tri-state area.
