Profiles:

Dr. Nagaraj Rao Havaldar is one of the foremost Hindustani Classical Vocalists of younger generation today. With a gifted voice of amazing felicity across the three octaves, he brings to his performances the subtle understanding of a scholar and the finesse of an aesthete. A gold medallist in MA and advanced his education with a PhD in Music. He holds with distinction "Sangeeta Ratna" a degree in Hindustani Classical Music. He has learnt under the tutelage of several luminaries like Pt.Basavarajrajguru, Pt. Sangameshwar Gurav of Kirana Gharana and Pt. P. Muttigatticeties of Jaipur Gharana. At present he is receiving advanced training from Pt. Madhav Gudi, prime disciple of the legendary Pt. Bhimsen Joshi.

As an innovator his pioneering efforts to popularize the `Kannada Khyal' is widely acclaimed. His deep knowledge of the subject coupled with his virtuosity as a musician makes his lecture- demonstration on appreciation of music, stress management through music and other aspects of Indian Classical Music very informative and inspiring. He was the chairman of the textbook committee for Hindustani Music and the book was published by the Directorate of the Textbooks, Karnataka Govt.

He has toured US and Europe extensively with many successful concerts to his credit. He has conceptualized several innovative concerts such as thematic renditions on Sri Krishna capturing the imagination and hearts of his listeners

Hemkalyan Bapat, though a computer engineer by profession, is a musician at heart. He hails from a family of musicians. Both his parents are vocalists and exponents of the Kirana gharana. His father, Dr. Laxmikant Bapat, is a disciple of Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. His mother, Mrs. Minaxi Bapat, is a disciple of Dr. Prabha Atre. Hemkalyan's training in music started at an early age at home with his parents. Later on he studied music at M.S. University of Baroda. He holds a graduate degree in vocal music and tabla from M.S. University of Baroda, His professional qualifications include a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and Masters in Information Systems. Hemkalyan has played in many concerts in India, UK and US.

Madhu Vora, a local artists from NJ and I am sure many of us know him and seen him action. He is an engineer by profession. He has accompanied many local artists as well as well known Hindustani Classical Singers from India.
